Its not our boiler but one at a rental we look after. Olive - We had a similar problem with this boiler before, last time just like yours, it was birds nesting in the flue (a whole metre of it up to the air vent), it was igniting then switching off immediately due to the boiler overheating. Solved this by putting fine mesh over the external air vent to keep birds out. Wollie & Country Boy - Called out a plumber - met him at the property, low and behold the damn thing worked, he put it down to low pressure, though without checking it himself he did say the problem can also be caused by the mesh diaphragm silting up in the water feed to the ignition. Enrique - We found a mummified mouse attached to thermostat wires in the electrical unit on our large upright fridge once, this caused it to either freeze up. No rodent problem this time Cheers all terry. I think there is a possibility your plumber was talking of the exact thing I mentioned so I better explain properly so this is something you need to know this for future if your looking after property for yourself or other person.
I have never seen dirty tap water in Spain so I think its unlikely its getting blocked on the in side. My own situation is the water corrodes the boiler with calcium during the heating process, then the flow of water carries this toward the tap especially the one low and nearest the boiler. What I was referring to is the fossett that screws into the mixer on the sink or same on the hot tap so if the water is getting blocked at this point the effect is stopping the water getting into the boiled which can cause the problem, if it is as I say a pliers may be needed to unscrew this fossett and clean same. I am just telling of the experience I am having myself on an ongoing basis.
